Sending Texts from your Pebble

There are currently three ways to send texts from your Pebble:
And three* methods for input:
  1. Voice -
    Pebble's microphone will record up to 6 seconds of speech and transcribe your message. Voice replies require data or a WiFi connection on your phone to use. For more information, click here.
  2. Canned messages -
    Edit default responses or create up to 10 completely customized replies. Keep reading below for more information about setting up canned responses.
  3. Emojis* -
    Choose from a set of the most popular emojis. 
*The Emoji response option is limited to Android users and Verizon customers on iOS.

Send Text app - Initiating texts on your watch

How to use Send Text
  • Find the "Send Text" app in the main menu on your Pebble Time.
  • The contacts that you have replied to recently or selected as "Pebble Favorites" will be listed. Select the person you would like to text.
  • Choose how you'd like to send your message: Voice or Canned Message.
    Android users and Verizon users on iOS will also find an Emoji option.
  • Use your microphone or select from the predetermined text.
  • Use the select button to send the message when you're finished.

 
How to Customize Responses
  • Launch the Pebble app. 
  • Go to the Apps tab. 
  • Find the "Send Text" app and tap the gear beside it.
  • Tap the "Customize" option under Canned Messages.
  • Create up to 10 custom messages to send from your Pebble.


How to Add Favorite Contacts
  • Launch the Pebble app. 
  • Go to the Apps tab. 
  • Find the "Send Text" app and tap the gear beside it.
  • You can select up to 5 contacts that you talk to often to be a “Favorite” on your watch by selecting "Add a contact".  
  • The Send Text app will then automatically save your 5 most recent contacts, for a total of 10 contacts you can initiate a conversation with from your watch.

  • Press the Select button when your Pebble displays a new text message.
  • Choose how you'd like to send your message: Voice or Canned Message.
  • Android users and Verizon users on iOS will also find an Emoji option.
  • Use your microphone or select from the predetermined text.
  • Use the select button to send the message when you're finished.
     
How to customize response
  • Launch the Pebble app. 
  • Tap the three dots in the top right corner to view menu options.
  • Select Settings.
  • Tap "Notification responses" and create up to 10 custom replies.
 Please note
  • You cannot reply to the same text message more than once.
  • You will not be able to reply to older texts stored in your Notifications history.
 

Incoming Call

  • When you receive an incoming call, there will an option will appear (Up button) to reply with a text.
  • Choose how you'd like to send your message: Voice or Canned Message.
  • Android users and Verizon users on iOS will also find an Emoji option.
  • Use your microphone or select from the predetermined text.
  • Use the select button to send the message when you're finished.
     

How to customize responses
  • Launch the Pebble app. 
  • Tap the three dots in the top right corner to view menu options.
  • Select Settings.
  • Tap "Incoming call responses".
  • Create up to 10 custom replies.
 
 

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I see the text features on my Pebble?
  • Texting features are only for the Pebble Time, Time Steel and Time Round. These features were introduced over separate firmware updates, so please make sure that your watch's firmware is current. 
  • Texting features for iOS are currently available only for Verizon or non-prepaid AT&T users, and only for the Pebble Time, Time Steel and Time Round.
I'm not with Verizon or AT&T. When can I use texting features?
  • We're working to add more carriers to our iOS texting features, but some aren't available yet.
  • If you're unsure if the feature's available to you, launch the Pebble app and select Settings from the main menu. Eligible phones will automatically display an Actionable Notifications section. 
    If the option does not appear, this means we have not yet added your carrier--yet. Keep an eye on blog.getpebble.com for future announcements.
